Meekyoung Shin - ‘Translation’, 2003

Special installation/performance in The British Museum’s Great Court to accompany ‘A Free State’ – Decibel/Arts Council Conference, March 2004.

These sculptures were created using body casting and modelling in soap. Translation involves creating a new version of a historical sculpture situated in a public establishment and relocating it in a different cultural context. Her practice is linked to performance art since the public can view her work in progress. Born in Korea

Meekyoung Shin studied sculpture at Seoul National University and the Slade School of Fine Art, London
