‘The Art of Useful Things'

Curated by David Usborne & James Putnam

March 20th- 28th April, 2017

Window Gallery, Central Saint Martins, Granary Building,

1 Granary Square, King's Cross N1C 4AA

An exhibition sourced from the David Usborne collection.

A former architect and teacher of design, Usborne has over the last 30years formed an extraordinary collection of anonymous objects chosen for their elegant shape and puzzling function. These utilitarian and anonymous objects will be of interest to designers and sculptors both because of the puzzle of their function (which is not always obvious), and the elegance of their form. The collection has been successfully exhibited in England, Portugal and Italy.

This exhibition celebrates the recent donation of his collection to UAL archives to offer inspiration to future generations of their art and design students.
